International students are defined as students who require the F-1 Student Visa to study in the United States.

International students must:

Show proof of English language ability through one of the following:

• International TOEFL
   
• UNLV Michigan Exam
   
• University-level course taken at a U.S. university/college, which is equivalent to UNLV English 101 with a grade of C or above
   
• Four years of U.S. college-preparation high school English and appropriate ACT/SAT score

Note: If you do not have official proof of English proficiency by the application deadline, select the major "English Language Center - ESL" as your first choice on the application for admission.

The following categories define different types of international students:

• Students who have only high school course work will be admitted based on their complete high school records or National Testing Authority results. UNLV will convert scores to the "A" = four system. A result of a 3.0 ("B" average) is required for admission.
   
• International students who have taken less than one year of full-time, postsecondary study will be admitted based on high school and postsecondary results. In addition to the high school results noted above, students must have results of a 2.5 ("B" average) in their postsecondary courses.
   
• International students with more than one year of full-time, postsecondary study can be admitted without high school records if UNLV can award 24 or more semester transfer credits. To be admitted, you must have results of a 2.5 average ("B" average) in their postsecondary courses.
